Nathaniel quietly sneaks up behind William and tugs down at his collar before letting his teeth graze the soft flesh. Then, he gently sinks them down, suckling lightly letting it remain for a moment and then he quickly pulls away, bolting with a chuckle.
William yelps in surprise when he feels his collar being tugged down, and then is indignation when he feels someone’s lips and teeth and his neck. His face goes bright red because he has a pretty good idea of who it is and spins around “Nathaniel!”

J-just some water. I look shaken? -looks at him self- where?
Alright, if you’ll accompany me to the parlor I will have Nathaniel bring you some. Oh [lets out a small laugh] No, I simply mean you look a bit unsettled.

The butler doesn’t notice any of the other’s reactions…Or perhaps, he chooses not to. But it was rather interesting to see William flustered and it only urged Nathaniel to tease him more. However, he didn’t want to ruin the quiet moment and he stayed in his own little area of the bench. Instead, he concentrated on his surroundings and became hyper aware of everything. And it seemed all too quiet for his taste. He narrowed his eyes slightly. They needed to go back inside soon. There were always dark things that lingered in the night and it wasn’t safe.
William shifted on the bench, casting a quick glance in Nathaniel’s direction. He noticed that the butler was staring, eyes narrowed, into the darkness. William became a bit concerned. Usually when Nathaniel looked this serious something was amiss. “Is something wrong, Nathaniel?” he asked quietly, watching the butler.
The butler blinked and snapped out of his stupor. He glanced at William and shot him a small, reassuring smile. “Perhaps we should go back inside? It’s not safe out at night. There are…dangerous things that lurk in the dark.” He murmured the last remark with a solemn tone before getting up and dusting his clothes. Nathaniel turned and held out a hand towards William. “Shall we, young Master?”
William immediately looked about as if the dangerous things Nathaniel was talking about would suddenly appear. He looked back over at the butler as he stood, blushing and hesitantly taking his hand, allowing the other to pull him to his feet. They were standing so close William could smell the butler’s warm scent. He immediately took a step back, almost falling backwards over the bench. He tried his best to collect himself. “Y-yes. Yes, let’s go inside.”

Nathaniel shot him a small smile. “I’m assuming you’ll want tea with that.” Afterwards, the butler made his way to the shed to gather some materials. Once done, he went on with his midnight rose harvest for a few minutes. He effortlessly trims about three rose blooms and when he finished, he placed back the tools in the shed and started to make his way to William’s bedroom. He made a mental note to himself not to forget his young Master’s midnight cup of tea.
As Nathaniel went through the necessary steps of getting William his roses, the young Lord once again closed his eyes, letting the sounds of the night wash over him. As expected, it took the butler almost no time at all to complete his task and soon William was sipping tea in his garden, his butler standing faithfully by his side. “I should do this more often…” William mused. It was hard to tell if he was talking to himself of Nathaniel.
The butler chuckled silently in amusement as his Master murmured his thoughts out loud. It was a rather rare occasion. “Yes, perhaps. It’s a rather nice night, don’t you think?” He remarked, shifting slightly on his legs and peering up at the dark sky dotted with stars. The light breeze wafted in the air, rustling the blooms and tree leaves nearby.
“Mm…” William murmured, nodding once in agreement. It was a very lovely night. Although he would never admit it aloud, he was glad Nathaniel was here with him. In fact, he was almost always glad when Nathaniel was with him. In addition to being an excellent butler, he was a good companion. “Nathaniel, you don’t have to remain standing. You may sit if you wish.”
The butler regarded his young Master before shooting him a small smile. “Alright, then, young Master.” He complied and sat upon the empty space next to the Briton. They both sat in silence and Nathaniel began to become lost in his own thoughts.
William finished his tea and set it aside, knowing Nathaniel would collect it before they returned to the house. He shifted a bit at the close proximity of the butler. They were rarely this close, and William wasn’t quite sure what to do. Any small movement made his arm brush against the other’s which sent a blush to his cheeks. William chose-as he always did-to ignore these reactions. Surely they didn’t mean anything…
